About
I'm Wen Qin, though online I mostly go by wqyeo or yeodev. I'm a software engineer based in Singapore.
Most of my day goes into business-automation software at work, and most of my nights go into open-source tools I felt like building or contributing to. I'm happiest working across the whole thing at once: the application people see, the services behind it, and the infrastructure it runs on. I reach for whatever language fits the problem instead of forcing one everywhere.
What I work with
I'll take an object-oriented language wherever I can get one. (Yes, I love my AbstractAnnotationConfigDispatcherServletInitializer.) That usually means Kotlin, Java, C#, or something in the C++ family. On the front end I'm normally in React or SvelteKit with TypeScript.
The other half of my time goes into operations: Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible across AWS, Oracle Cloud, Azure, GCP, Scaleway, and Hetzner, plus self-hosting on Proxmox.
And the part I saved for last because it's my favorite: DevOps, automating as much of the above as I can get away with.
Where I've worked
Software Engineer
Full-stack SaaS work end to end: PHP and NestJS on the back end, React and SvelteKit on the front, Joomla, and CI/CD on Plesk and Azure.
DevOps Engineer
Ran Kubernetes on AWS and Oracle Cloud, automated infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible, and built out GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Full-stack Developer
Built AI-driven integrations for a learning management system with Django and React, and helped run the deployment on Docker and Nginx.
Infrastructure Consultant
Designed and deployed cloud infrastructure on AWS and Oracle Cloud for clients, tuning for performance, cost, and security.
Software Developer
Wrote and fixed Java and C# software in an Agile team, starting out on the QA side with automated testing.

Where it started: building and testing Unity games in C#, including an awareness game for the Singapore Prison Service.
